Stepping in to the Past

27 September, 2019 @ 10:30 am 1:00 pm

Using the earliest known map of Eastbourne created in 1631 as our starting point we will see what evidence remains from this time and while we are ambling, will tell some of the stories associated with buildings and places recorded over 300 years ago. As part of the walk, we will visit Motcombe Gardens, St Mary’s Church and hopefully the Old Parsonage.

This is a short walk but will be full of information, stories and history. It will be informal and discussion will be encouraged. This is aimed at people who want to understand the story and development of Old Eastbourne and shows that you do not have to walk far to uncover the heritage that is all around us. Most of this walk will be accessible to those with wheelchairs and pushchairs, but there are a couple of steps in to the Church and if access to the Parsonage is possible this only has stepped access.
