Ratton School’s Journey through the History of Eastbourne

Explore some of the History of Eastbourne with students from Ratton School. The walk and subjects have been chosen by students, from Stone Age Axes and the secrets of Ratton Manor to WW2 Old Town and the Isolation Hospital, join us to find out more about Eastbourne and why these stories were chosen. Starting at the edge of Hampden Park, past Ratton School, up Victoria Drive and finishing at Summerdown Road

Approximate Distance: 2 miles

Starting Point: Outside the bus shelter on the corner of Kings Drive and Park Avenue BN21 2UP

Finishing Point: Summerdown Road, Eastbourne, BN20 8DQ

Walk Grading: Easy – Less than 2 miles with no steep ascent/descent

Maximum number of walkers: 20

Some on street parking is available at the starting point

Plenty of public transport is available to the starting point of this walk including most Stagecoach Buses. From the finishing point, the Brighton & Hove bus will run from East Dean Road (a short walk) every 10 minutes, back into the town centre.
