Chattri and Wolstonbury

Starting from Patcham, the walk goes up the Downs to the Chattri war memorial before continuing up to join the South Downs Way. After a short period following the SDW we cross the A273 to ascend to the top of Wolstonbury Hill (a Bronze Age Hill Fort) before a very exciting (and very steep) decent down to the Jack & Jill pub in Clayton.

Starting Point: Patcham Clock Tower, Opposite the Ladies Miles Pub, BN1 8RA
Finishing Point: Jack & Jill Pub, Clayton, BN6 9PD
Walk Grading: Strenuous – Over 5 miles and may have stretches of steep ascent/descent
Maximum number of walkers: 30
Parking is available on street in Patcham Village
You can get to the start point in Patcham on the Brighton & Hove 5 or 5A bus – the stop you want is “The Ladies Mile”.
The finish point is served by the Metrobus services 270 and 271 which do run on Sundays and stop close to the start point at the “Black Lion”. Alternatively Hassocks station is about 20 minutes walk away along an off-road footpath.
